strategies from the contributors:
STEPHEN VITIELLO:
1st - is an unedited recording created with a modular synthesizer with sequencer and sampler going into a slightly pulsing output. No absolute strategies were taken in terms of translating the drawing into a score, just the eye moving along lines and trying to get my hands to keep up.
TIM WILSON:
I decided to make an algorithm to generate sequenced sound from Zarou's piece.
Reading from a grid left to right/top to bottom. The entire print is equal to 2 minutes.
Part 1: 1 track
Based on the 4x4 squares of the graph
18 lines total= 120 seconds
Each line= 6.66 seconds
Each line= 12 squares
Each square= .555 seconds
Part 2: 3 tracks
Based on the 8x8 squares of the graph
9 lines total= 120 seconds
Each line= 13.33 seconds
Each line= 3 squares
Each square= 3.33 seconds
Track 3: 6 tracks
Based on the 8x8 squares of the graph
3 lines total= 120 seconds
Each line= 40 seconds
Each line= 2 squares
Each square= 20 seconds
(the first 3 tracks here were made from compressing tracks 1 and 2 to 6.66,13.33, and 40 seconds and the final 3 are those compressions stretched to 120 seconds)
